Turkey Bacon Spinach Tomato (Print Version)

A hearty melt featuring turkey bacon, spinach, tomato, and melted cheese on golden bread.

01 - 4 slices whole grain bread
02 - 4 slices reduced-fat cheddar cheese
03 - 2 tablespoons light cream cheese, softened
04 - 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

05 - 4 slices turkey bacon

06 - 1 cup fresh baby spinach, washed and dried
07 - 1 medium tomato, thinly sliced

→ Seasonings

08 - 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
09 - Pinch of salt, optional

# Directions:

01 - Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
02 - Cook the turkey bacon in the skillet until crispy, approximately 4 minutes per side. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
03 - Lightly butter one side of each bread slice.
04 - Spread half a tablespoon of cream cheese on the non-buttered side of each bread slice.
05 - On two bread slices, cream cheese side up, layer baby spinach, tomato slices, turkey bacon, and cheddar cheese. Sprinkle with black pepper and optional salt.
06 - Place remaining bread slices on top, cream cheese side down, with buttered sides facing outward.
07 - Place sandwiches on the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, pressing gently, until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted.
08 - Remove sandwiches from skillet, allow to rest for one minute, then slice and serve warm.
